Alfa Romeo is unfortunately a rare sight on the streets of Stockholm. Fortunately, the cars from Milan are not completely forgotten in this area. One just needs to know where to look for them.
A good choice was to go to the season opener of Club Alfa Romeo Svezia. The event took place on the vast meadows adjacent to the majestic Skokloster Castle located north from Stockholm.
A large area was reserved for the cars. Unfortunately, due to poor weather, much of it remained empty. To make things worse, most of the participants left early when a freezing cold rain came. The weather was definitely not contributing to the Italian atmosphere.
I believe that, because of weather, what I’ve seen was not representative, but still there was much to see. Surprisingly, despite I was expecting myself to focus mainly on the Alfa Romeo models, I was mostly impressed by the row of three DeTomaso Panteras. That’s not a common sight!
I’ve also had a lesson in Swedish automotive history. Have you ever heard about the brand Ockelbo-Lundgren? I’ve only learned about it after a close look at one weird looking roadster. I hope that soon I’ll have a chance to learn more about the machines build in the town of Ockelbo.
But let’s get back to the Alfa Romeos. From the classic boxy Giulias to the brand-new ones. Mighty Bertone coupes, my beloved Alfetta GTVs and the forgotten 90. There really was something to choose from.
Weather played a very nasty role during the event. Despite being cold and seeing the rain trying to penetrate the internals of my lenses, I was happy to participate. I hope that next time I’ll not only see more interesting machines, but more importantly have a chance to talk to theirs passionate owners.
